    The oldest image source ("Fireplace in Elisabeth's Room (sheet 51, ill. 31)")shows a high structural integrity of the room ceiling, but substantial disintegrity of the fireplace. The younger image source ("Fireplaces of Elisabeth's and the Blue room") indicates (undocumented?) interim restauration efforts upon the fireplace between ca. 1950 and 1986, seen also in this direct comparison (Fig. 11).


    The construction drawing ("CODR: Fireplace in Elisabeth's Room") contains dimensioning, a front view, a vertical and a horizotal section. One image ("Fireplaces of Elisabeth's and the Blue room") contains also a yardstick.



    Reconstruction process:

    1) The younger image source ("Fireplaces of Elisabeth's and the Blue room") was used to create a perspective distortion correction with photoshop and was overlayed with the construction drawing ("CODR: Fireplace in Elisabeth's Room") to serve as a basis (Fig. 2) for the CAD drawing (Fig. 3).


    2) Whereas the level of information for the upper parts of the fireplace is high (images, drawings), stylistic information about the bottom part is low as it was substantially damaged.

    As the Netherland Baroque (1700 - 1760) was the dominant stylistic influence of the Interior Design in the palace (see
    Wikipedia: Palac w Gladyszach), a search for fireplace motifs from this time, especially for the French variety "En Trumeau", was undergone to hopefully find an adequate match. Searched sources were directories ("Chesney's Directory of Chimneypieces"), online antique dealers ("Printout of an online product description (Louis XVI style trumeau mirror)") or historical blogs ("Design for the chimneypiece of the Board Room in the New Treasury by William Kent").


    Due to missing information or documented historical fireplace themes with comparable side parts and curved mantlepieces, the reconstruction of the lower part is partially hypothetical. Cornice remnants of the side parts (Fig. 5) indicate possible style elements. What appears to be dots/stains under the mantle could be drilled holes (Fig. 6) for fixation of - now missing - blind parts.


    The height of the upper fireplace part indicates rather a picture filling than a mirrow filling, as documented in this example ("Printout of an online product description (Louis XVI style trumeau mirror)").


    3) The lower parts of the chimney are aligned in a pointy way (Fig. 11) which could indicate a Rumford Fireplace style or similar with typical dimensions pictured here ("Typical Fireplace Dimensions"). Another historical drawing ("Design for the chimneypiece of the Board Room in the New Treasury by William Kent") depicts relative dimensions of the inner and outer parts of the fireplace. A visual estimation of element dimensions (Fig. 7) is done thereafter.


    4) The mantlepiece relief, the circulatory arcade relief and the upmost moulding relief could be obtained from the source material (especially from "CODR: Fireplace in Elisabeth's Room") in a sufficient way. Cross-sections (Fig. 12)(Fig. 13) could be developped.


    The mantlepiece blind between lower and upper chimney parts seems to be curved in both x- and y-axis (see Fig. 4). The relief cross section is extruded along these bended paths.


    Above the mantlepiece, at the bottom of the upper midpart, is a curved, amorphic surface (Fig. 8). It is unclear, if it is part of the original mantlepiece or if it has been created during undocumented reconstruction activity between ca. 1950 and 1986.


    5) There exist no information about the facing and the base of the pilasters (lower side parts). One can speculate about a ray pattern (Fig. 9) in the lower midpart due to regular linear stains. The overall destruction degree in the room leaves no space for conclusion upon repeatable style elements in the fireplace facade.
